Rescued! was created to celebrate San Antonio's Tri-centennial Celebration. It was displayed at the Mexican Cultural Institute as part of the Common Currents Exhibit, in which each artist was assigned a year and asked to depict a part of San Antonio's history. Rescued! represents the year 2102 and salutes the founding of San Antonio Pets Alive! Since its beginning, SAPA! has saved the lives of over 40,000 dogs and cats. Bully breeds are the most common breeds rescued. As pit bulls have an "outlaw" reputation, I chose a Motorcycle jacket pattern and appliqued a Pit Bull on the back to signify the "club Mascot." Old English Font was used as it is popular with many Motor Cycle Clubs.
